From a teacher’s perspective, these students may become an integral part of defusing issues before they ever come to the attention of administrators. Teachers and administrators quickly take notice of the changes these club members bring to inter-peer relationships.

The faculty advisor does not need to have a background in nonviolent communication, although a heart for social activism and an understanding of diverse cultural traditions and lifestyles is certainly helpful.

All teachers and administrators participating in the program receive a specially-designed curriculum guide that outlines each monthly meeting.

We find that many faculty advisors follow the program along with their students, because they see the benefit of learning these skills and sharing them with other teachers.
